San Diego - May Day 2008
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm in front of the Crystal Pier, I've been meeting up with kids to give pointers on how to longboard and in general performing the switch stance and switch push movement to help them expand their horizons.
I don't think it's because I have an uncanny sense of balance cuz really.. it's all muscle memorization of proper repetititional technique. I do think I'm blazing a trail in this area since it's just not switching feet and stance. it's a gyroscopic display of swing and G force. When I'm on my snowboard or skii's on long steep and deep powder, the swinging from side to side is a sensation that when experienced can cause a void in one's toolkit for having fun when there's no snow. So I've got my skogging device to fill that void. Obviously being out in the wild where it's quiet and mother nature screams beauty, it's hard to replicate that on a sidewalk but if that sidewalk is near the ocean or mother nature whereever, it's not bad backup! Especially when you are keeping those muscles tested, challenged so when the time comes to leap out of the copter or drop down the huge face for a bottom turn, your legs will be ready and at this age in my life, running and gyms just don't do it. They stink, people with muscle head trips runneth over and in general is a social scene I think sucks :)
Oh crap.. gotta go.. more later )
