- 1973 - I skated for transportation. Then one day Jack Smith stopped me skating down Los Osos Valley Road in his Ford Firebird and asked if I wanted to go to a slalom race.

SEND GEORGE TO SWEDEN
Most of you know George Pappas. He had two 1st place finishes in the last couple of weeks, in Morro Bay (hybrid) and in Hood River (TS).
George needs to get to Sweden to represent the U.S. and take his stab at the world championship title. Thoughts on the race.....
First of all I want to thank Jack and the whole SLO crew, Adrian, Johnny, Jay, Dylan, Danny Lee, Ryan, and everyone I forgot. Putting on races and parties is exhausting.
The vibe in Morro Bay was awesome. We had stellar weather the whole weekend. The residents were super cool to us. Even the CHP was cool. The alternative races, the stick race, and the one and done were super fun. We had 3 races, 2 events, and 1 giant party all in one weekend. This Mo… Continue

David Eye said… - Hi, Gary! Yes, been skating a bunch this summer,..never completely stopped since seeing you last in 2007?. I did ramp things back up in June or so slalom-wise. At that point the summer family schedule was set and could not make any slalom events due to planned family trips / work commitments, but that is past now. Hope to race next year and anything I can get to this fall.
I see you are thinking about doing a race at Overlook in Oct. which sounds like a good "come out of retirement" type of event for me: I will be there whenever. So keep me in the loop, I am skating slalom mostly @ Pepsi in Greeley a few nights a week, plus a weekend day there or somewhere. Look forward to skating with you. Take care, D.
