Distance skating

I'm back in the skating scene again after a 10 year hiatus. Not that I ever gave it up--I still went out to watch sessions and kept up with the technology and such; but, I became so disillusioned with the tech. skating of the 90s that I hung my board up for a while whilst I attended college and tried to get a "real" job. Now that is all over, I am back longboarding. I recently discovered distance skating--thanks to Adam C., James at Pavedwave, and the rest of their distance buds for giving me the idea to pick this discipline up. Now I am just keeping things old school where tricks are concerned. I prefer going fast rather than letting the board have all of the fun. I guess that is why I picked up longboarding. The rider has all of the fun as opposed to the board doing all of the work. So, LDPing, pushing, cross-stepping, hanging ten, bonelesses, etc. are all rage with me at the moment. I do get a wild hair up my ass and break out the kickflip from time to time, but speed is where it's at. Divebombing hills, scaring old grandma's on the sidewalk as I blaze past them. It is so great to find the roots of skating all over again.

Small world Jim. Harlingen is pretty flat. We hit the bike trail at McKelvey Park at night. I skate with Mark GUMBY Gosser. He and I travel up to Sullivan City and ride a private gaited subdivision. There is a skater named Edward Cole aka Shredward he is from SA you can find him on www.bonelessone.com He is one of the Texas Outlaws. You know the Valley laid back, and very behind the times. Email me your digits at teasingdog@rgv.rr.com.
