Chuy,
Business has kept my nose to the grindstone, but I'm not complaining. To catch you up on my life, after ARA (Another Roadside Attraction), I returned to construction, i.e. cabinetry and finish work. Actually, I bought a sweet log home in the Rockies where I was living, but hankered for something else. Ultimately, I moved to Denver and accrued more business and skills, but that still wasn't doing it for me, so I moved back NH and been here since 12/92.

Four months later, I purchased a fitness center and been in this profession ever since. I really love working with in this field of strength and conditioning. But, I still have one more major milestone to achieve. That will come beginning '10 or '11, all depending upon the economy.

Sounds like you're doing well, which is GREAT to hear! Are you still married to that beautiful wife of yours? I hope so, and hope all is well with you both! I still have a photo of a painting you did back when I was out in HB visiting you. Your mentor in event promotion was with one of the best, Donnie Branker. Isn't that the Branker whose name is seemingly on everything?? Lucky you, buddy!

Regarding my good bud, Randy Smith, he's doing exceptionally well. He lives in a small town not far from Durango called Mancos, CO. "R" bought some property there and built a superb post and beam structure there. He's still active skateboarding, wind surfing, skiing downhill, telemarking, kite skiing and who knows what else. If the terrain is steep and the snow deep, Randy will be hiking to it and dropping in. Quite frankly, we're all still into it all. Anything to keep the heart rate up, the adrenaline flying and the health pumped.

I'm currently living in Bethlehem, NH where I work at a resort called Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa, www.mountainviewgrand.com I'm the Resort's Health & Wellness Director as well as the Fitness Director. I'm in the weight room training all body types. If you want to learn how to lift and train properly, I'm the guy who loves to bring it.

My personal email address is: pjmanbar@gmail.com
Write to me there, so I can send you attachments.

Hey Chuy,

Thanks for the email.

The response to the book has been amazing. Truly, there are no guidlines, just suggestions. I'm asking people to write what the feel about skateboarding, why they started, why the love it, how they balance it with work, family and life in general, or perhaps even why they quit.

You can also write about skate adventures, people you have met through skateboarding who influenced you, or maybe someone you influenced. Some people have submitted fiction, which is also welcomed.

Don't worry about length, just write. And of course photographs will help tell certain stories. The book will be printed in black and white, except for the cover.

I am eager to see what you come up with.

All the best,
Jack
PS - We raced together at Signal Hill, 1978. I drove the Vetter Streamliner.

Hey Jack,

I remember you well, as well as your car, I was talking on the phone with Dave Dillberg when I got your message weird huh? He lives in Molokai, Hawaii. Here is a little story that Dave told me and that he tells people who call to interview him. He is often asked about his being a world record holder for speed -Stand up as well and he tells them, "Well I held the official record, at 50.3 miles an hour but Chuy held the unofficial record at 70+ miles an hour at Anaheim Hills. Both Dave and I invented, modified, made custom trucks wheels, faring, fiberglass cast way before they came out, surfboard design, fins etc. etc. but we just did it all for our personal use not for commecial purposes....how dumb huh? Ha Ha Ha

Got lots of stories, slides, pictures. I will send them out little by little. MY number is 714-965-0706 or at my home office 714-253-3792. Give me a call when you have time. Skitch Hitchcock is fighting live disease and hanging on.

Aloha,

Chuy
