Its my blog, I dont expect anyone to read this. This is what it is like in womens skateboard racing.
This is my year of following the Rules. Rules can be made up on the spot. Rules are your own, or others. Whatever they say. Staying under the radar is my thing. Obviously its working.
You need four for a contest. I have been fourth before, its a good spot, but there is no prizes for 4th. Noone even noticed you were in the contest. I am starting to see how some of the Pros feel about not getting…

Policka is a great skate town with lots of history. They are putting on a great race. Today is the dual parallel slalom contests.Yesterday the contest around the square was kind of fun. The more serious hybrid race went well past 8 pm. The worst part was sitting around all day waiting for the pro division to be over. It was Mika Hadestrand, Janis and Domink in the top 3 positions in Pro Hybrid. The best part of this race has to be this skateparty last nite. There was a band and every one got cra…

I was depressed after my last race. There was not much I could get going around town there. I needed to get over to Europe for a race, oh, the next one is next weekend. Oh, I should leave Wednesday. Wednesdays are my travel days. Oh, Czech Repulic is right by Vienna, where I want to go to that museum. I need to go there. It will help alot to not have a jones for this book, A House of Art, Reubens as Collector. They did not return my emails, so I have to go there instead.
As it turns out, I can…

I fly out Wednesday July 15, destination PDX. Portland, Oregon has lots of great skateboard parks. In my free time I check out the parks in the destinations I am headed for in www.concretedisciples.com. After I get to Portland I am heading directly to an art show called "Organized Chaos" at a place called Hecklewood at 114 NW 3rd Ave. It has art by Bryce Kanights and Chet Childress. I have been long time fans of their work and skateboarding. After that I think it is a good idea to check out Rip…

This year going to Hood River is easy. There are no problems booking rooms, I know the route and know what to bring. I am geared up and training daily. It is less than 50 days until I depart for the West Coast. I love Oregon. Why was I born Canadian instead of in Portland. I love it there. I would love to spend more time, go to Mt. Hood. Why not try all the mountains.
The flight from Vancouver is beautiful. On one side you see the Pacific Ocean, on the other there are 5 mountains, volcanoes, etc…

We have started parkade slalom at U of T. It was a favourite spot of Chris Barrett. I have been only one time before but they get the cones out and try to practice. This spot has 4 levels with elevator. Its warm inside. The pitch is pretty good and the cement ok. The 25 + cones are ok but in the world cup there are over 70 cones you have to practice for. The stamina you require to hit 77 cones for as many runs as you can before you get tired. The sessions have been to show Ramon how we do it in…

The thing about me hitting a car is settled. Judi was right when she said just let insurance take care of it. After they "found" me I thought Id go through the list of reasons for the accident. It was $1923.77 for a quarter panel job 2007 Honda, and I dont know why I stressed about it so much. The car was reversing as I was exiting the race. Where I was planning to stop changed 5 times in 5 seconds. Anything can happen at a race and will. What doesnt kill me has made me stronger. I am thinking a…

So I made it to France for this European Main. Things are not looking good for outdoor skateboarding today. The GS is a no go. The afternoon skating at the spot looks grim. They will have to take it to their indoor location. Everyone is to meet at the Paul Mistral Park and get a ride to where the indoors will be. So far I have seen only a few of the skaters. Its too bad, they hqve set up an elaborate course for us and the other disciplines. More later.

So I entered, competed and came in 4th in the Gorge Games. I had some good runs on Sunday before I fell again. Then doing tight with a shredded left leg became too much. Had enough fun racing for the weekend. The best part was racing against Lynn. She always shows me what is up.
Meeting new people who are into this racing is fun. The Gorge is a beautiful place. I had a great room in a beautiful house. I want to move to Hood River. The skateboard park is down the street. Go back for snowboarding,…

Soon I am leaving for France. This morning I woke up to two nice posts about the desaxe-slalom contest I am going to. I got excited and went out for my last skate before departure. Breaking in some new retro zig zags 70s orange and yellow. All my decks have the same colour wheels now. Now I have finally caught up with the rest of the slalom world. There should be some great riding from skaters from around the world, including India. It is only my second main contest of the year, but third time r…

So I flew to Vancouver and then Portland. Got my rental car and took off towards downtown Portland. As I was driving in it was a miracle that I saw the road that Skip Marcotte lives on. I followed 12th AVE NE all the way to his house, and he was there when I got there. We immediately started work on his list of things to do before the weekend. Evan and Stephanie St Clair were coming and he had to do things before they came, as well as pick them up.
That evening Wentzel Ruml IV called up Skip loo…

There are so many things to do before going to a major contest. First you have to have a place to sleep, a way to get there, registration, and gear. I was going to take the year off but the guys at work convinced me to go to Hood River for a contest. The getting there part was easy and fun to do. The place to sleep was more difficult. There were no rooms at the usual hotels so I was considering my options. One was to rent an RV and use that as my room. One was to sleep in the bowl or my car, the…
